With another long weekend very nearly upon us, we here at Nemet Hyundai have been thinking a lot about how we can best advise our Jamaica, NY readers to stay safe when travelling this Fourth of July weekend. After a little brainstorming, we came up with the following list of our top three tips for surviving the heat not only this weekend, but all summer long.
- Have you ever noticed that if you leave your cellphone in either too hot or too cold temperatures, its battery drains much faster than normal? That's because it has to work that much harder to regulate its temperate and function normally in extreme conditions. A similar thing can happen to the battery in your car--the summer heat may lead to faster battery fluid evaporation which can then result in failure. If your car's battery is more than three years old, consider coming into our service center before hitting the road to have it tested by one of our onsite specialists.
- Similarly, cars' engines work much harder in the heat, as well. Make sure your vehicle isn't in need of a coolant flush before you travel this weekend, and top off any fluids that are looking low.
- We all know that driving on underinflated tires can result in subpar performance and fuel economy. A blowout is even more likely to occur when temperatures are hot and the pavement is scorching, so double check inflation and tread level on all of your tires--including your spare!
